The back of each card contains factual, up to date, well research information designed to stimulate the left brain. This is presented in a concise, easy to use format. The front of each card contains a visual of each trend, designed to stimulate the right brain. For example:

The cards are colour coded into 6 sections: Global, Technological, Social, Political, economic and Business Trends.

USE STRATEGIC TRENDS 2008/9 CARDS TO BRING CREDIBILITY AND CREATIVITY TO YOUR STRATEGY AND INNOVATION WORKSHOPS.

  1.  Divide your group into smaller groups of 7 or less people.

  2.  Give each group a pack of Strategic Trends cards

  3. The groups can select the cards they want to use, in any way they choose. e.g. randomly, by colour, or by dealing cards to each group member. By changing the way you choose your cards, you can change the creativity of the group.

  4.  Each member reads a single card to the group. As he reads the contents of the card (left brain), the group can look at the visual on the front of the card (stimulating the right brain.)

  5. The group then brainstorms new opportunities the trend provides to their organisation, division or their customers.

  6. Once the group runs dry, they move to the next card/s

Improve the strategic thinking of your group.

  1.  The first level of strategic thinking is to brainstorm one opportunity from one card.

  2.  The second level of strategic thinking is to randomly choose a card from each colour section, and to brainstorm one opportunity for all 6 cards.

  3. The third level of strategic thinking is to group 7 or more careully chosen cards together in a pattern, and then to brainstorm one powerful opportunity that applies to the pattern.
