LESSONS FROM MALAYSIA.

Ruth Tearle discusses the successes and failures of one of her most complex strategy jobs.  A global, cross cultural and cross religious company, operating in 5 different industries in Malaysia.

During June/July 2001, Ruth Tearle worked in Malaysia for the second time in four years, with the same company. In 1997 she helped Peremba to develop a corporate strategic plan. From 1997-2001 no implementation took place at all. In 2001 together with their Human Resources Department, she facilitated five more workshops for Peremba. (Three divisional strategy workshops, a human capital workshop and one values workshop.) In the two months since returning from Malaysia, Peremba has done more to implement their new strategies, than they achieved during the previous four years. Why?

Ruth’s comments were: “Something really magical happened this time round. It was as if all this energy came together and suddenly it was all so simple. This trip changed me. I learned and experienced so much this time around.  In this talk, Ruth shares her experiences and insights.
