The purpose of this course is to equip you with practical skills and tools to manage change within your own organisation.

WHAT MAKES THIS COURSE UNIQUE.

  • This is a practical experiential learning course. Throughout the two days, you will work in groups on a real life, up to date, South African case study of your choice. 

  • During the course, you will also learn how to design your own transformation process. A process that is exciting, positive, inspiring, and empowering to everyone in your organisation. A process that will work! 

  • Working in groups provides you with a with a wonderful opportunity to befriend and network with other people who are involved in change management.

  • The technical role of leadership (identifying what to change, using the right change tools, and managing the change process)

  • The inspirational role. (removing barriers to change, and managing organisational energy)

The technical role of a change leader

  • How to identify what needs to change

  • Removing the obvious obstacles to change.

  • Identifying the most important changes you should focus on. (using a systems approach to identify the 20% of changes that will give you 80% benefit).

  • Understanding how world class companies manage change.

  • How to select the tools you need to achieve your change.

  • Understanding all the tools/techniques that can be used when developing a change strategy (About 26 leadership tools will be provided.)

  • How to identify the roles that need to be played in the change process

  • Understanding the integrated roles that need to be played to make your change strategy work. This includes the role of the CEO, executive team, middle manager, facilitator/consultant, internal change agent, every employee, and the change leadership steering committee.

  • Custom designing your own change process

  • The group is given the opportunity to apply what they’ve learnt to their own company. In teams they custom design a change process for their own company

The inspirational role of a change leader

  • Identifying and removing the ‘people’ barriers to change

  • Anticipating implementation problems. Developing strategies to overcome potential implementation problems.

  • Understanding the emotional phases people experience together with change. How to overcome resistance to change. How to lead people through chaos….

  • How to anticipate the forces for and against change. How to use these forces.

  • Dealing with "the difficult person". Managing politics. How to surface and deal with hidden agendas.

  • Putting positive energy into your change process

  • The role of the inspirational leader

  • Beliefs and attitudes of inspirational leaders

  • The nature of energy. How to put positive, creative energy into your change process. How to make your change process fun, exciting and developmental.

  • How to keep the momentum going. How to keep the magic alive.

  • Putting it all together.

  • The group is given the opportunity to design an integrated change process for their company which combines both the technical and inspirational side of a change leader.

If there are more than five people attending from your company, or you are facing a particular situation you’d like to get guidance on, you can choose to use your own company as a case study during the workshop. You could then get the additional benefit of the change community providing you with useful new insights to the challenges you are facing.
